Fading
I wait for the day I can return.
To the gentle arms of my loved ones waiting,
Waiting endlessly for my return…
I wonder as I write these words,
If I would ever return…
Return as whole as I left.
I look out of the trenches and see the pain…
The endless blood split and cries eat away my heart…
I think of the fields from which I came…
The calm stars in the night sky,
When the only smoke can from my campfire.
The only shouts were ones of laughter…
I wonder…
I wonder if I can return…
And if I do, will I come back whole?
Or eaten by the despair that stalks this accursed place of death.
I incessantly wonder…
Then I pray in this godforsaken place…
To the gentle arms of my loved ones waiting,
Waiting endlessly for my return…
I wonder as I write these words,
If I would ever return…
Return as whole as I left.
I look out of the trenches and see the pain…
The endless blood split and cries eat away my heart…
I think of the fields from which I came…
The calm stars in the night sky,
When the only smoke can from my campfire.
The only shouts were ones of laughter…
I wonder…
I wonder if I can return…
And if I do, will I come back whole?
Or eaten by the despair that stalks this accursed place of death.
I incessantly wonder…
Then I pray in this godforsaken place…
